At Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, AWP brings Women Between Peace and War: Afghanistan to the 12th Annual Texas Symposium on Women, Peace, and Security, centering Afghan women’s experiences and leadership while connecting visual storytelling with urgent conversations about justice, security, and human rights.
AWP / NOW: The Sharp Edge of Peace: Global Struggle and Local Action for Women’s Rights in Afghanistan
Twenty-five years after the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan and five years since the Taliban returned to power, an afternoon of visual storytelling, film, and conversation centering the leadership and rights of Afghan women and girls, and the lives of those who made their way to Chicago. Featuring the Women Between Peace and War: Afghanistan exhibition, an excerpt from Roya Sadat’s The Sharp Edge of Peace, and discussions connecting global struggle with local action.
