Art Works Projects celebrates Emerging Lens Fellow Oyewole Lawal, whose documentary photography has received an Honorable Mention in the 2026 ZEKE Awards, presented by the Social Documentary Network. The annual awards recognize outstanding photographers working in documentary photography and systemic change. Official exhibition materials list Lawal among the 2026 Honorable Mentions.
Lawal will be in Paris and on hand to meet visitors and discuss his work as his photography is presented in a slideshow on a gallery wall during Résilience, the 2026 ZEKE Awards exhibition at Galerie Joseph.
Exhibition: November 13–15, 2026
Opening Reception: November 13 · 6:00–8:00 PM
Venue: Galerie Joseph, 5 rue Sainte-Anastase, 75003 Paris, France
The recognition comes during an exciting period of international visibility for Lawal and his work. Earlier in November, Art Works will feature Lawal and fellow Emerging Lens photographer Edwin Ndeke during The Hague Climate Week, bringing their documentary storytelling on environmental justice, labor, and communities in Lagos and Nairobi to audiences in the Netherlands.
From Lagos to The Hague to Paris, Lawal’s work is reaching new international audiences—demonstrating how locally rooted documentary storytelling can enter global conversations about environmental justice and systemic change.
